The little secret in every space we design

The little secret in every space we design

Every project starts with needs. A family needs room to live. A doctor needs patients at ease. A team needs somewhere to work. We listen to these first, and we keep the budget in view from the first meeting to handover.

But beyond the needs, we look for something that cannot be measured. We call it a little secret.

What a little secret is

It is one small, unexpected element in each space. It can be hidden, or it can be personal. It is never on the brief. The client discovers it, lives with it, and talks about it.

It might be a door that does not look like a door. A niche shaped around a family object. A detail that only makes sense to the people who live there. Its size matters less than the feeling of finding it.

The secret in our own studio

Our office in Vadodara is built from memories. The architecture drawings Ar. Shruti Soni made in college, scanned and printed on canvas, line the working area. The tools she used then form the wall in front of her desk.

That wall hides a closet. Push it open and a projector turns the cabin and the garden into a conference hall. Visitors rarely guess it is there. Almost all of them remember it.

Designing from inside out

The secret comes from the way we work. We begin with how a space will be lived in, then shape the outside to agree with it: the light, the view, the street and the climate.

Ideas start in the sketchbook, as they did when the studio opened in 2015. They move through layouts and elevations down to the smallest detail on site. Somewhere along that road, the secret appears.

Why it matters

A space can be beautiful and still feel like it belongs to someone else. The secret is what makes it yours. After 105 projects, it is still the part our clients mention first.
